Becca attended ICT Kikkawa College in Toronto, Ontario. Although North Carolina only required 500 hours at that time, she felt that this did not allow enough time to learn about the human body. She discovered the ICT program by accident and was impressed with its 2200 hour program. The modalities they offered included Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports and Injury Treatment and Prevention, Myofascial, and Suikodo, a version of Shiatsu.

Becca has since taken Continuing Education courses for Thai Bodywork, an eastern practice that is somewhere between massage and assisted yoga; and Nurturing the Mother ®, which includes not just pregnancy massage but also some fertility, labor, and post-partum work to help the couple through the whole birthing event. She has also completed her Medical Massage Practitioner Certification to continue to grow her knowledge of how the body functions and benefits from massage, and how it can be used to relieve pain from trauma. Recently, she added CKTP Certified KinesioTaping Practitioner ® to her list of tools. Learn more about KinesioTaping here.

Becca’s work background includes spas, Occupation Therapy Clinics, and health clubs. Her daily focus is athletic and rehabilitation work, to help people reach their highest potential. However, a varied background allows her to custom tune a massage for relaxation or general health, and she enjoys pregnancy work.

In my 12 years as a massage therapist, I have learned two main concepts that are important in creating an excellent massage experience.

First, I must be dedicated student of anatomy and physiology. Your connective tissues, fascia, joints, tendons, nerves, and lymphatic systems – and how they all interact – are important when you are on my table. I am dedicated to always increasing my knowledge base about how the body works.

Second, and equally important, is listening. It is important that I listen carefully to your needs and preferences in order to create an effective and pleasant massage experience. I create individual and effective treatment plans for fibromyalgia, arthritis, lymphedema, shoulder issues, sciatica, stress, neck issues, and back issues. I have treatment modalities for recovery from surgery, marathons, and just the basic stress of everyday life. I want to understand what your needs are so that, together, we come up with a plan that works for you. Communication is the key to your best massage.

I have training in the following massage modalities:

  • Swedish Massage
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Pregnancy Massage
  • Post-Partum Massage
  • Myofascial Therapy
  • Medical Massage
  • Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT)
  • IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
  • Medical Massage Cupping
  • Hot Stone Massage
  • Cough Congestion Relief therapy
  • MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) – Vodder method
  • Liposuction Recovery Therapy
  • Sport Taping
  • Aromatherapy
  • Reiki
  • Oncology Massage
  • Cranio-Sacral Therapy (2 Styles)
  • Reflexology

I use many different techniques and tools in my massages. Nothing, however, is more important than listening and finding what works for you.
